Seems they caught them with their nickers down...


Looks like none of their defensive systems were operational or functioned at the time. It also seems they got some help from the design itself, in particular the ASCM's on deck contributing to the secondary damage to the ship. Finally, seems as if their damage control efforts were lacking based upon analysis.
